It is highly recommended that you back up the Private Key for your web server and store the file in a secure location.Backing up the Private Key will ensure the ability to restore the security for your web site in the event of a Backing Up your SSL Certificate and Private Key.

To back-up your Private Key:

  1. Locate the directory that the private key (.der) is stored

  2. Back up this file to removable media and store in a secure place.

As a precaution you should backup your entire /config/ directory which holds your certificate files including your Trusted CAs.
