webMethods Integration Server 4.6

The following document details common certificate management tasks as they pertain to webMethods Integration Server 4.6 and the successful retrieval, installation and maintenance of Entrust SSL Certificates using the webMethods Certificate Toolkit version 1.0. In this documentation the webMethods Integration Server is acting as the server and not the client.

It is strongly recommended that you take the following precautions to ensure that you will be able to install your Entrust SSL Certificate:

  • If on Windows, Install the latest Windows 2000 service pack from Microsoft Windows Update site
    http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
    Min. Service Pack 2 is required.

  • Uninstall any prior versions of Java VM if not required, install the latest version available at http://www.javasoft.com

  • When you generate your Certificate Signing Request, make sure you are logged in as an Administrator to the computer that hosts your web server.

SSL Certificates

Entrust SSL certificates inspire consumer trust by signifying a Web site's commitment to protecting the personal information of its visitors. By using SSL, companies help ease the security concerns of its customers, leading to a more engaging online experience. An SSL certificate is used to confirm that an SSL encryption algorithm is actively securing data being transmitted to a Web site. Digital certificates usually contain the SSL subscriber's information, the name of the certificate issuer, and the strength of the encryption in use. In addition to the "padlock" icon displayed in Web browsers and the https:// prefix, the SSL certificate is one more indicator customers look for as evidence that a Web site is serious about protecting their information.
