The Certificate Manager software included with the Premium Edition of the service automates the installation and renewal of SSL Web server certificates to provide customers managing large pools of SSL certificates with potential savings.
- What is the difference between the Premium Edition and the Enhanced Edition? (top)
The Enhanced Edition provides powerful certificate administration tools that enable administrators to manage large SSL Web server certificate deployments. As customers manage more certificates, the account administration capability of the service makes it simple to order and deploy SSL Web server certificates. Customers can benefit from certificate pooling and a reusable inventory. Administrative delegation can help to reduce certificate management costs, simplify deployment, and integrate SSL Web server certificate management into the business practices and procedures of an organization.
The Premium Edition of the service provides both the powerful certificate administration tools in the Enhanced Edition, plus automated certificate lifecycle management that is provided in the Entrust Certificate Manager. The combination of administration tools plus automated SSL Web server certificate management can help organizations with even larger SSL deployments to simplify management and save costs.
- How does the Certificate Manager perform certificate lifecycle management? (top)
Entrust Certificate Management Service helps address the cost and complexity of enterprise-scale SSL Web server certificate deployments by automating the certificate request, installation and renewal lifecycle operations. As part of the Certificate Management Service, Entrust provides an application within the customer's network that interfaces to web servers without needing to install agents on those servers. The application called the Entrust Certificate Manager, communicates automatically with the Entrust Certificate Services certification authority and the managed web servers within a customer's network to have SSL Web server certificates issued and installed on those web servers. The result can be a significant reduction in the effort to manage the lifecycle of SSL Web server certificates.
