Nokia WAP Server Support

This document describes how to Create a Self-Signed Certificate Request (SSCR) for the Nokia WAP Server.

Overview

There are three major steps to create a SSCR for the Nokia WAP Server:

  1. Launch the "Nokia WAP Server Certificate Tool"
  2. Enter CSR Information
  3. Generate the CSR

If you are having difficulty finding what you're looking for, please contact Entrust Customer Support.

Launch the "Nokia WAP Server Certificate Tool"
  1. from the "start" menu, select "programs -> nokia wap server -> nokia wap server certificate tool". the "certificate tool" panel will open.
  2. select the "csr" button. this will open the "create certificate signing request" panel.
Enter CSR Information

  1. There are three fields in the "Certificate Tool" panel which you will need to complete to generate a CSR.
    1. Company Name
      In order to complete the "Company Name" field, you must first manually create a Distinguished Name (DN). A DN uniquely identifies your Nokia WAP Server, and allows Entrust.net to generate a unique WAP Server Certificate.

      To create a DN, you must collect four (4) peices of information:

      1. Organizational Unit, or ou (this is your service, or department name. For example, "WAP Server Operations")
      2. Organization, or o (this is your company name. For example, "Entrust.net Inc.")
      3. Country Code, or c (this is the two-letter code for the country you are in. For example, CA for Canada, or US for USA)
      4. Common Name, or cn (this is the address, or domain name, of your WAP server. For example, wapserver.entrust.net)
    2. To create the DN, take these four peices of information, and put them on a single line, seperated by semicolons, in this order:
      Organizational Unit; Organization;
      Country Code; Common Name

      For example:
      WAP Server Operations; Entrust.net Inc.;
      CA; wapserver.entrust.net

      Copy this line, all four elements (and three semicolons) into the Company Name field.
    3. Key Length
      This field allows you to pick the size of the public and private key that your certificate will use. Select the key length you require from the combo box.
    4. Certificate Signing Request File Name
      This field allows you to pick a name and a location on disk to store your CSR once it has been generated. Seleting "Browse" opens the "Save As" panel, and allows you to locate the folder you wish to store the CSR in.

Generate the CSR
  1. All that is left to do it select "Create". This will generate your CSR and store it in the file that you chose (if you did not choose a folder to store the file, it will be stored in \lib\i386\security by default.)
  2. Once the file has been created, you can open it, copy the CSR out, and use it at the Entrust.net website to request a WAP Server Certificate.
