To back-up your Private Key:

Launch the Microsoft Management Console (MMC):
Select Start /Programs/ Windows NT.0 Option Pack/ Microsoft Internet Information Server/ Internet Service Manager

Locate and Highlight your web site from the left preview pane.

Select the Key Manager icon from the toolbar.

Select Key from the toolbar menu.

Select Export Key.

Select Backup File. An alert appears.

Select OK.

Select a location to store your Private Key backup file.

Select Save.

You have successfully backed up your Private Key.

To restore your Private Key:

Launch the Microsoft Management Console (MMC):
Select Start /Programs/ Windows NT.0 Option Pack/ Microsoft Internet Information Server/ Internet Service Manager

Locate and Highlight your web site from the left preview pane.

Select the Key Manager icon from the toolbar.

Select Key from the toolbar menu.

Select Import Key.

Browse to the location of your Private Key back-up file.

Supply the password for your Private Key.

The Server Bindings dialog appears.

Select the OK button unless you want to use this certificate with specific IP addresses and port numbers.

Select Computers/ Commit Changes Now, to save your changes.

Select OK

You have successfully restored your Private Key from back up.
