How do I install my SSL certificate into Lotus Domino R5 to provide secure access?

Answer:

To provide secure access to your Web server, you must complete the following tasks:

Step 1: Install the Entrust Certification Authority - L1C Intermediate Certificate
Step 2: Install your Entrust SSL Certificate
Step 3: Enable Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) in your Web server

Each task is described in detail below.

Step 1: To install the Entrust Certification Authority - L1C Intermediate certificate

1. Open a Web browser and go to http://www.entrust.net/developer/.

2. Click the Download Root Certificates button below the table. This begins the process of downloading the Entrust Certification Authority - L1C Intermediate Certificate.

3. Select Personal Use and then click Download Certificates.

4. Select the contents of the Base 64 Format text box. This is the Entrust Certification Authority - L1C Intermediate certificate. 

5. Copy the certificate to your clipboard. You must include the ----BEGIN CERTIFICATE---- and----END CERTIFICATE---- lines.

6. Open the Server Certificate Administration application on your Domino Web server.

7. Select Install Trusted Root Certificate into Key Ring.

8. Paste the Entrust Certification Authority - L1C Intermediate Certificate into the appropriate text entry field.

9. Click Merge Trusted Root Certificate into Key Ring.

You have installed the Entrust Certification Authority - L1C Intermediate Certificate.


Step 2: To install your Entrust SSL certificate

1. Open the confirmation email you received from Entrust.

2. Click the link to the certificate retrieval page on the Entrust Web site.

3. Select the certificate in the Entrust SSL Certificate section and copy it to the clipboard. You must include the ----BEGIN CERTIFICATE---- and ----END CERTIFICATE---- lines.

4. Open the Server Certificate Administration application on your Domino Web server.

5. Select Install Certificate into Key Ring.

6. Paste the Entrust SSL Certificate into the appropriate text entry field.

7. Click Merge Certificate into Key Ring.

You have installed your Entrust SSL Certificate.
 

Step 3: To enable SSL in your Web server

1. Edit the current server document in the Domino Administrator.

2. Select the Port tab.

3. Type the absolute path name of the key ring file that the server uses in the SSL Key File field. For example, C:\Lotus\SSL\keyfile.kyr.

4. Enable the SSL Port Status field in the Web HTTP/HTTPS section.

5. Restart the Domino Web server.
