How do I resolve the error: “You submitted an improperly formatted CSR”

Problem:

When I try to submit a CSR to Entrust Datacard Cloud Services, I get the following error:

      You submitted an improperly formatted CSR.

Cause:

This error will occur when the Certificate Signing Request (CSR) is improperly formatted (i.e., spaces or carriage returns breaking the encoded data). 

Solution:

The user should submit a properly formatted Certificate Signing Request (CSR).

Your Certificate Signing Request (CSR) should look similar to the following, including the FIVE DASHES that appear before and after -----BEGIN NEW CERTIFICATE REQUEST----- and -----END NEW CERTIFICATE REQUEST-----:
